LOUNGING AT KIBULI MOSQUE

What started out as an ordinary day took a turn for the better when I drove up Kibuli hill. Seating atop this hill is the Kibuli mosque which offers a panoramic view of Kampala city. My visit started with a courtesy call at the administrators office. It was meant to be brief, but the passion with which he shared the mosque’s history kept me glued to my chair. Almost 40 minutes later and the conversation was still flowing with intriguing tales of royals and war. Because I have an active imagination, I got so lost in adventures of the past and didn’t jot down anything. That can mean only one thing, that you have to go hear these tales for yourself. And while at it, enjoys the views too. I’m told the sunsets are worth the wait:

Seated at the entrance to the mosque

Kibuli hospital in the foreground

Bookmarking that view

Kampala city skyline in the distance

Big, bigger, biggest!

Next time, I will time the sunset!

Spare an hour this weekend and plan to enjoy the sunset at Kibuli Mosque. And yes, dress appropriately!

Cheers!
