I originate from Mbale, a district in the far east of Uganda with a bustling town and astute people. The streets are filled with somewhat careless pedestrians trying to outrun the ambitious cyclists and impatient motorists. That’s not surprising as it is the business hub of Eastern and North-Eastern Uganda, spreading its umbrella of trade as far as Juba and Western Kenya. But don’t get caught up by the town, for around the vibrancy of trade and swiftness of the people lies a web of quiet yet rugged natural beauty in the ranges of Mt. Elgon.
Wanale ridge creates a beautiful backdrop for the town while the mountain ranges assaulted by nature in beautiful chaos form the font of life in Mbale (#hippiepaulocoelho). Waterfalls blanketing the narrow gorges of the ranges and fixing your gaze on the sparkle of the falling water is a sight not to miss! And yet, in the greenery of the plains lies a gentleness, waiting to be explored.
I am on a mission to explore the wonder of Mt. Elgon starting from home – Mbale. And this is my beginning;
